Projects in The World Islands

About The World Islands

The World Islands is a massive project created by Nakheel Properties, featuring 300 individual islands shaped like the continents of the Earth. Positioned between Burj Al Arab and the Port Rashid transport hub, it sits about four kilometers from the Arabian Gulf.

The idea for the World Islands came from the Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, back in 2003. The plan was to sell each island to private developers, but progress was slowed by the 2008 financial crisis. As a result, construction faced delays for many years. Currently, only a few of the islands have been developed, with about 70% of them owned by notable public figures and business leaders.

The World Islands is the UAE's second man-made archipelago, created after Palm Jumeirah. It covers a total area of 54 square kilometers. The islands come in different sizes, ranging from 250,000 square feet to 900,000 square feet, with spaces between them measuring between 164 feet and 328 feet. To protect the islands, they are surrounded by an oval breakwater. The only way to travel between the islands is by watercraft.

Infrastructure

The World Islands provide top-notch living for those who crave luxury and seclusion. Only residents or owners can access the islands, and there's a dedicated security team to ensure safety.

On Lebanon Island, you'll find the Royal Island Beach Club, a hotspot for fun and relaxation. It boasts a swimming pool, volleyball court, bar, and Mediterranean restaurant. With two scenic beaches offering stunning views of Dubai's skyline, the island regularly hosts events for both kids and adults.

For a lavish stay, head to the Anantara World Islands Dubai Resort on one of the South American islands. And keep an eye out for upcoming luxury hotels on the Heart Of Europe islands.

Location

The World Islands can only be reached by boat or helicopter since they're not connected to the mainland. There's a boat that runs every 30 minutes from Fishing Harbour Jumeirah One Station to the island of Lebanon. The nearest public transport stop is Rashid Al Hadees Masjid 2.

From Fishing Harbour Jumeirah One, residents can easily reach various city attractions by car:

  • Safa Park: 10 minutes away
  • La Mer Waterfront and Laguna Waterpark: 10 minutes away
  • Dubai Garden Glow and Dubai Frame: 15 minutes away
  • Dubai International Airport: 15 minutes away
  • Downtown Dubai: 15 minutes away
  • Mall of the Emirates: 20 minutes away
  • Dubai Marina: 30 minutes away

Economic Attractiveness

The World Islands is a unique project offering properties on remote islands away from the city. It's a peaceful escape from urban life. Currently, villas and hotels are being built and are up for sale. Property owners can earn rental income from hotel-managed apartments after covering maintenance costs and taxes.

You can buy properties through an off-plan program, which means you buy them before they're fully built. To estimate returns, look at the Anantara World Islands Dubai Resort. A two-night stay costs about AED 5,000 (USD 1,350). So, on average, you can expect around a 10% annual return on investment.

The price is valid for 2022
